Default remote mirror removal

This might seem like a dumb question, but how do you remove a remote control mirrior. I think that is what you call it. The drivers side exterior mirror has cables that go to the interior adjusting ****. I need to remove this because I'm replacing the door panels. Thanks in advance

No sweat. If you are taking the door panel off, the job is even easier. The bezel on the door panel surrounding the adjustment **** turns clockwise and comes off. Then push the **** inside of the door panel. After removing the door panel, remove the mirror and feed the cable and **** through the hole under the base of the mirror.

Note of caution. When removing the screws on the outside mirror, BE CAREFUL! Scratched paint caused by a runaway screwdriver sucks.

OK, looked at the inside control mech.. I can't see where it screws on or off, it is a one piece unit with the spring, three cable connections and the front mounting plate all as one. This is on a 66 by the way. I can only guess that the three cables must be removed in order for the control unit tobe disconnected. Thanks

NO!!! Do not try to dismantle the cables or you will ruin the mirror.
There is a bezel that threads onto the control ****. It is round and surrounds the control **** on the interior of the car. Turn the bezel surrounding the control **** counter clockwise. It may be a little stiff coming off but it will come off.

There is nothing to dismantle as far as the control cables are concerned. They stay connected to the control **** housing and the mirror.
The control **** WITH the cables still attached slides out of the hole under the mirror as 1 complete unit. When you get done removing the mirror you will have only two pieces.1. The bezel and 2. The mirror with the control **** & cables.

Hi !

I never did that before, but what fastbackford seems to say is:
there's a small metal plate around the **** where you adjust the mirror. Remove this metal plate first by just turning it.
Then the **** is free. push it into the door panel. so the **** will hang on it's cables somewhere inside your door.

Then go outside and remove the screws from the mirror. Once they are removed, pull the mirror out.
the mirror together with the cables and the knowb will come out as one piece ..
