Default Question about Concours judging

Not that I care as far as MY car is concerned, but I was flipping through my NPD catalog and noticed a lot of stuff labled "concours correct" that would be completely hidden for the most part. Do they actually look at ALL this stuff in concours judging? I mean, some of this stuff you would actually have to take stuff apart to see. Seems like a huge pain in the *** to me. Then again, I'm not much into "concours correct" cars. Not that there is anything wrong with them, they're just not my thing.

if you don't care about concours corret, there's no point in buying them I believe.
But imagine you had the all original car and have to replace the heater hoses. It would be a shame to put aftermarket goodyear hoses into it when you could get the 'concourse correct' ones with the stripes.

At a serious show they will crawl all around those cars. I have used some of those parts and NOS since my car is pretty much original.

Well, what do you mean by "completely hidden"? Flashlights and dental mirrors are common judging tools. Aftermarket U-joints, for example, have grease fittings while OE did not, and they look for that.

yeah... if you're not researching where chalk and paint marks should go, which style of bolt head to use on your inner fenders, whether or not you have the correct battery and oil filter, and a million other ****-retentive points, you don't need to worry about concours.

When I'm doing body assembly, interior installation, etc., I go ahead and get the "show correct" hardware kit. Really doesn't cost much more than the generic crap 40 years of high school kids have stuck on the car, and you end up with everything you need, everything fits, no problems.

yeah, i do too. i always go for the concours-correct fasteners because they're generally a little bit better and they look like the other bolts. both styles seem to work equally well though when it comes to the actual fasteners holding the parts in place.

I will absolutely be using concours fastener kits when mine goes back together just for those reasons. Besides, all my original fasteners look like crap or are missing anyway.
