Default windshield gasket for 69 fastback

Need a new windshield, but i'm being told I have to get a gasket and the vendors the company uses don't carry them. i tried rockauto.com and a few other sites, but no luck. where can i find a gasket, or do i need to find a different place to get a windshield.

Also, is this something I should tackle myself, or go ahead and pay to have a professional do it? Been trying to do all the wrench time myself, but things out of my league like paint i have no problem letting someone else handle it

Found this one, http://www.cobranda.com/wiwe.html and called Tony Branda, according to that guy 69 and 70 are a glue in, they don't have a gasket. Sounds like the place just isn't familiar with the model.

Yea they dont use a gasket. It uses a tape kit (really sticky windshield tape/gasket material) or if you have it replaced by a company and installed they will use 3-M window weld caulk/glue. Its good stuff. Thats what was used on mine and it doesnt leak at all. You can order the tape kit from most of the Mustang vendors, just look it up. But I would use the window weld.

I also use the window tape for sealing up the trim holes around my rear window. A little ball of it stuffed on top of the screw hole and then place the trim and screw through the sealer into the metal so that no water can seep around the screw into the cab and start rusting away.

I would pay the glass guys to install it. They know how to put the trim on easily and are used to glue in glass because all of the newer cars use it.

The 69-73 windshield uses butyl tape. Common item, if you can't find it in your area Glazier Nolan stocks it.

they probably didnt seal the window or if they did they used urethane(which hardens) and not the correct bedding and glazing compound
