Default electric fan questions

Ive decided that the first thing I need to do to keep my car cool in stoplight traffic is to add an electric fan.

What about this one?

Are there any other options?

That is a very good option, but you could check a company called Derale, they have some very good fans also.

Are you adding like you wrote, or replacing like the add says to? It looks like a standard fan will no longer fit...

The electric fan looks like it will save a bunch of HP over the stock fan. Do you think the alt should be bumped-up to handle the extra amps required?

Do you save much by going with a conventional fan with the thermatically controlled clutch built-in to it? You know the kind where it is supposed to not turn as much cold but lots more when it gets up to temp.

Im going to run it instead of the engine driven fan.

Do you think this will let me run cooler when the A/C is on at idle?

That depends on the size of your rad, and how good the water pump is flowing the system. It WILL help keep the temp right around where you turn it on. If I turn mine on at 180, it rarely climbs above that temp. It has to be over 100 degrees outside, and sitting at idle for awhile before it will. If you get a 3+ or 4 row rad, flush the system, run about 70water/30 anti freeze with a bottle of water wetter, good water pump and the elec fan, you should stay under 200 with the AC. There has to be air flowing across the fins to help the fan do it's best job tho.

A freind of mine was at the Salvation Army, and they had 2 there for 25 each, so he grabbed it for me. Not sure what mine is, but I think it's around 1800/2000cfm. It's got a fan girth of 17.5", and with the housing, it's about 4" to thin to cover the whole face of the rad. I think the first link you posted is a very good set-up. I think it's a bolt-in type deal, then hook up the wires and sensor, if you get the automatic style.
