Question Advertisements and things?

I am seeing a ton of advertisements and stuff. Advertising posts in the forums too. I don't remember seeing these before, so I am kind of confused. I also keep getting logged out, which never happened before either. Any ideas?

I don't know about the getting logged out thing, But if I see one more vendor, board sponsor or not butt into a thread on someone's new shift boot or something with "Hey fellas! You know what would really set that dash off? Our new cheese-tacular vinyl dash stickers!!!!", I'm pretty sure I'm going to scream.

PLEASE staff, try to at least rein in some of the over aggressive vendors, it really is having a negative impact on the board atmosphere. Look at the other Mustang boards where the environment went downhill, and members voted with their feet and moved on... Don't let MF slide into constant hucksterism over genuine member participation.

for the getting logged out part, when you log in, click the 'remember me' box under where you enter your username and password; this usually helps. iirc, this might have something to do with a browser setting; clearing temp internet files might help the problem.

and for the advertisements, what kind are you seeing specifically? sometimes when you are not logged in, ads will appear in within a thread and it will look like a post; or is what you're seeing ads directly from sponsors or other members?

do you have links to any specific examples? the other staff might be aware of this, but things can slip through the cracks, so a heads up like that can help every now and then

i believe the forum is experimenting with a new 'posting style' for some of the advertisements; although they can be annoying, they aren't permanent... so i guess the best thing to do for now is to try and ignore them.

i know that wasn't really the answer you were looking for, but these sponsors help keep the forums running... 'give a little, get a little'

oh, did you get your login issue resolved?

So we should just ignore the temporary worsening of the board, until it becomes permanent?

I don't see how an anouncement made in the forum (not the thread) could be considered disruptive?? If anything I would prefer to see that versus the type where the vendor sticks their nose in the actual thread like what you first described....

What I'd like to see the admins do is deny another friggin posting of "what gears should I get", What type of CAI/Tune should I get, What wheels should I get, etc...THESE are annoying. They have been posted a bazzilion times.

Oh and the peeps that post appearance threads or intro threads in the TECH sections... THAT is annoying.

I do not disagree that the thread hijacking to make a buck is FAR worse

i know it's not the ideal answer you wanted, but like i said, if it wasn't for those sponsors, we wouldn't have much of a forum. the section i moderate doesn't get any ads like that, so i'm probably taking the situation a little for granted... but if things get too out of hand, the other section moderators will take care of things
