Cost to install Subframe Connectors
I was recently quoted 150 bucks to install some Steeda Subframe Connectors on my car. I thought this was a little bit steep. Is this the regular prices you all are seeing for this?
Thanks,
Rob

Depends on who is doing (some shops have a ton of overhead and need to charge more). I am a welder by trade and I charge a $50/ hour flat rate for any side jobs that do not involve climbing (I work way up on towers, and will do side jobs at altitude but it is $100/hour for that). The job should take no more than 2 hours but thats if you pulled the carpet on the inside (fore prevntion). Here's the thing though, if this is somthing you can't do you are at some body elses mercy. Shop around, I bet you can find a guy to do it cheaper. Remember that the car must be supported at all four corners when sub frames are welded in, in order to insure proper chassis alignment.
Ok, thanks for the advise. I thought the quote was a little high and the guy at the shop said they will use the next door business lift. I figured they have to get a cut of the money and that is why it was so high.
I was wondering if a muffler shop would be able to do this. I want to make sure its done correctly like you mentioned in your note.

Ya, thats too bad a muffler shop can't do it. There are a ton by my house that would make it easier.
There is a muffler shop that the owner has a couple Mustangs he always has in there doing things to them. Plus he put on my Flowmasters a while ago. Maybe I could see what he has done as far as connectors in the past and see if he has done a good job in the past. I will still have to check around though. I just can't pay an additional 150 to install them. I'm getting 4.10's installed next week and can't swing both the costs right now.

As long as you don't care if it looks pretty, a muffler shop SHOULD be able to do ya just fine, just make sure you trust 'em. They're used to working underneath cars anyways.
I took my differential cover to Discount Mufflers about three times when I kept launching bolts from the ring gear through it. But then again my dad had worked with them before and knew their reputation.
