Passenger air bag disable?
Hi Guys, This is my first post on this sight so give me a little lee-way if I mess up. I just purchased a 1999 Mustang GT convertible. I've got a young son that wants to sit in the front seat but he can't due to the air bag. Does anyone know of a way to switch off just the passenger side air bag? Did the later model cars have a switch installed for this? I know I could pull the fuse and disable both air bags but I'd like something a bit more user friendly. Thanks for any help, John
I'm not sure, but man, to be perfeclty honest with you, is it really worth the chance of him being KILLED in an accident when he's up front (air bag or not)? Keep him in the back man....he won't be the happiest camper with you, but at least he'll be alive.
do an internet search for air bag disable. They will also list shops that can install the switch. Due to potential liability issues, alot of shops won't do it.
There are companies that sell switches specifically for this.
They have to be pretty failsafe, DO NOT try and do this yourself. I'd imagine that if you did, and had a mishap, you could get catch alot of crap for it.
