Default Wider tires in back?

Hey Guys,
I i'm new here but have been checkin out the site for a while. Well its about time for me to take off my snow tires and put on some real tires. I was thinking about getting the BFG g-Force T/A KD tires. My question is should i get wider tires in the back, maybe 255's instead of the 245's or should i just leave the 245's? I occassionally race some locals and I'm going to start running my car down at the local track every now and then, this is also my daily driver and thats why I'm not going with some DR's.

What kinda wheels (width) and car do you have? That would help a little.

Wider will definitley give you more grab. What size are your rims?

They're just the stock 17 inch GT rims. I got a 2001 GT i thought i put that in my signature?? Does it affect the handling at all with the wider tires in back?
