Help w/ motors
Ok guess i need some help... i am not that smart when it comes to engines but i do have 3 years of dragracing knowledge b/c i race one of my bosses cars at the local strip. I have a friend w/ an import that runs 6.4's -6.5's in the 1/8th... I am looking into getting a 91-95 gt but first i want to buy everything for the motor first. I want to wax him really really bad b/c he thinks a stang can't be his rice burner. I put my foot in my mouth and told him the first test & tune of next season he'd have to put his foot in his mouth and pull my ( soon to be) horse shoe out of his a .... I would like to run in the 6.4 range and still be street legal anyone have a list for me?
Chris
Ps. I dont want anything Chevy under the hood
I think the year model will be a 1992 or 1995 but i think its gonna be the 1992

he is running a accord ..not sure of the work i know he has a 250 power shot of nos and i think some kind of supercharged motor...hes very very quick off the line but slows alittle at the end...i do know hes not legal and everything on the body is fiberglass..but i have faith that the stang wont let me down once i find a good setup

Accords are for moms taking kids to soccer games...I hope you own him. I saw a post talking about a GT-40 crate engine being sold for $2,500, but that surely is a load of excrement. lol. But if they are for sale...that would be a force to be reckoned with.
6.4 in the 1/8 mile? Are you sure you know what kind of power it takes to run that? I don't know what that equates to in the 1/4 but I ran 12.80 and 8.1 in the 1/8th. 6.4 is pretty stout. You are talking about some serious mods to get there.Axles, tranny, motor, tires, power adder,etc.. Hope you have a big check book!
I just checked the conversion chart and 6.4 equates to roughly a 9.90 in the quarter. You better be packing at least around 650/700+ horses to pull that off. I would be putting your foot back in your mouth and putting that horseshoe back where it belongs... Nothing wrong with losing to rice running 9's. He probably spent twice what you would have to with your stang to get there.
one header hehe...but what if he has 4.10's? that might make his 1/4 not go by that chart. or do i have not a clue of what gears actually do? that chart really doesn't seems accurate since many factors could cause a difference in 1/8 and 1/4 times.

See...i think he's running 4.10 gears (or is that not possible), and if that chart you have didn't mention gears it is faulty in my book because they matter (if my definition of them is right, which i think it is). And isn't a 250 shot pretty stout and bad on the engine?</P><edited><editID>Jugador</editID><editDate>37781.9175</editDate></edited>
