sluggish pony
Hello all, Well i have just freshly rebuilt my 5.0 and gave it some new life...because at 97,350 the motor was tired..So I took the motor out of the car 2 years ago today and and started to work on it. I put in New bearings, (rod & main) new rings, oil pump, had the gt 40 heads re worked and freshend up with some new valves for my ford racing f-303 cam. The heads were shaved oring was removed by my local machine shop also were ported in the mean time , they also machined the block and honed the cyclinders and all that good stuff.. Well i got the block back and everything was gravey from there. So I started to assemble the block.. I was heistant to put my roller rockers on because im not totally sure that they were going to neccessary for my application. The ratio is 1:7 for the rockers. The heads had new heavy duty springs made for the cam put in to ensure the proper lift and all that mumbo jumbo.. Well to make a long story short the motor is now back in the car and it seems to be very sluggish...??? When at idel the car some times sounds like it wants to die. I have the rpms set at 890. So i take it for a ride but it only has the power in first gears, the start of second is slow then it catches up. But as for cruising it like it falls on its face and like its drowning in fuel.. My air fuel gauage isnt reading anything even at full throttle, ( occassionally it will but not often ) it stays on the lean side except for when the car is parked, for a period of time. I have no vaccuum leaks my fuel pressure is set at 28lbs with my adjustable regulator. I use an msd 6a ignition box with the blaster coil, I have a 70mm throttle body with bbk cold air kit, stock ported upper and lower intake manifolds, 1 5/8 primary hedders. The car runs at or around 180 / 190 degrees no hotter. It almost sounds like the engine grounds out then comes back. I dont hear any valve train noise there pretty quiet with to stock rockers............ Can some one please Help im all out of ideas
