Default Blower Question

Settle a disagreement between a buddy and I. The type of s/c that commonly sticks out the top of a car's hood. You know, the old style "my car has obviously had some enginework" blower sticking out the top? Roots, or twin-screw?

Yeah, "roots type blowers" is often what most people think about when they see that big chrome thing sticking out through the hood, with a big pulley in front of it and usually a couple carbs on top.

Most a "screw type blowers" are compact enough to stay under the hood, or perhaps with a hood scoop on the hood

+1, also they didn't really have twin screw superchargers back in the old muscle car era... they weren't brought to America until 1988 from sweden, and most drag racing classes are biased against twin screw superchargers

almost every chromed, street blower sticking out of a hot rods hood is a roots blower.
