Default Mileometer

My mileometer has stopped working - it's stuck at about 68,000 km.

The Speedo works fine as does the revcounter.

The car is a 1997 V6.

Any ideas on what the probem may be and is there an easy fix?

I don't particularly want to replace the whole unit.

Thanks for any advise.

haha its called an odometer and your revcounter is called a tach(ometer).

from the sounds of your problem, you may have to get a new one. you legally cant crack into the odometer so its probably gonna have to be replaced as a whole unit.

Hey David...
Have you figured out what the problem was yet? My odometer and trip meter just stopped working yesterday. My tach and speedo still work fine too. Sounds like we have the same problem here. Mine is a 97 GT. Mine broke when I reset the trip meter.
Please let me know if you found a fix!
Anyone else here have knowledge of the internal workings of the gauge cluster??? I looked through the wiring schematics (thinking that the odo/trip may be electically fed to the scroll bar?!) but found nothing. I took it apart, but it all looks correct with no broken mechanical parts.
I too am stuck....HELP!!!
Thanks,
Troy

Troy,

I still haven't fixed it but it seems to be a fairly common fault.

I've been in contact with this company:-

http://www.mrwhizard.com

They will fix it for about $150 which is a lot cheaper than replacing with a new one.
