Im going to buy a supercharger in about a month or so, soon as i get my graduation money and i save up a bit more. Im not looking to spend like 3 grand or anything, just your basic supercharger complete kit. The one im looking at specifically is a Vortech S-series for $1825.95 and has a standard output of 5psi. I realize its not going to be as good as alot of SC's but it will easily put me past SS's, vette's, cobra's and everything else in that class. Any opinions? suggestions? thanks.....

depending on what you drive, it wont necesarrily get you past vettes and such

 

It will if you're racing some kid with a vette I saw this past summer. I was at a street night at a local dragway and this kid came up with an 80's vette and pulled a 20 sec 1/4 mile. It was so funny yet sad at the same time. It was probably his parents' or something.

 

You do realize that the newer cobras have the 4.6 DOHC making more power than the 5.0 AND a supercharger making more than 5psi I believe, so how does that leave you faster?

 

I make 241 to the wheels now. 300tq. Say the supercharger with 5psi adds a low 75hp. That brings me to 316 at the wheels and 375 torque. so that gives me with a 15% drive loss 363hp to the crank. 27 less than an 03 cobra. that also gives me 431 torque to the crank. Way over a stock 03 cobra. My car also weighs about 2800-2900lbs with the mods ive done to it. Now tell me i wouldnt beat a cobra. Even if the charger added less torque, id still be around 410-420 torque

with that setup, you will never beat a stock 03 cobra...first of all, your torque isnt going to be even with your hp gains, there is no telling how it will be. second, the 03 is underated. It will dyno around 370+ to the tires, and not to mention, its instant hp and torque....its just not gonna happen man
