just the other day someone posted about how if you dont turn the key to on before you start the engine that your not giving the fuel pump time so then its a dry start. I have a '97 cobra, is this true in my car? thanks for any help

You don't need to give it a few seconds... if you don't, it may just not start right away, but take a second or two extra. There's no harm in it either way.

It's not quite a dry start in the way you think... It might not get fuel for the first half of a second, but as long as the engine hasn't been sitting for a long period of time or as long as it's not brand new, there will still be enough oil to lubricate the internals. A 'dry start' is when there is no oil running through the engine.

Not having enough fuel may make the engine run in a lean condition. But since your car's engine is at oh say... 80* when you start it... there's really no danger of melting a piston or whatever.
