Just because I'm new on this site does not mean that I'm stupid. Mr. and Mrs. "5th" and "2nd" "gear" members. What I wanted to know is how to disconnect the changer... if you guys could read, you would already know that. Thanks for your useless information.
First off - If you wanted to know how to disconnect the changer then ask that.. Don't say "how to take apart and fix my six cd changer."
Second off - If you say "how to take apart and fix my six cd changer" you might want to say whats wrong with it in the first place.
Third off - If your going to tell me to read better then you might want to learn to type better cuz I can't read your mind numb nutz!

Question
I am having a problem with my 6 disk CD changer in my mountaineer. It is a stock alpine changer from 2000. When I put a CD in it and try to play, it comes up with disk error. I have tried both burned and standard audio CDs. None work. I know that this is vague, but I've had this problem with another changer and didn't know if it was a tell tale sign of something.

Answer
All too common in my experience with changers.

Usually, it is a tell tale that it's time for a new one.
A Disk preventive cleaning device/regime can help extend the life, but once they error, it is usualy cheaper to replace than to repair them.
Of course, now that we can put 120 tunes on one cd (MP3 capable indash CD player), the single disk units are not a bad option starting around 80.00 at your local Walmart and Circuit City.

does that help? it doesnt tell you how to fix it, but if thats the problem, youre best off getting a new one.

as for removing it, i couldnt tell you.

Oh I'm sorry "Mt Twigbert" Did I offend you? I'm oh so sorry. BUT WHEN SOMEONE IS SARCASTIC IN A MEAN WAY, I GET MAD!!! Disconnecting something usually falls under the same catagory as "taking something apart". I'm also sorry that you can't read minds.
Give it up newbie and get used to it.... there's a lot of us sarcastic bastards here...
