Default messed up a manifold stud

the manifold to midpipe flange has two studs on the passenger side, and i stripped the end a bit on one of them when putting my catted midpipe back in. so whats the best way to go about this, am i gonna have to take the midpipe off and try to replace the stud? ive already tried as hard as i could to get the bolt on it, it just spins around on the end. its in a very tight space so trying to re tap it or anything seems impossible. thanks

I had the exact same problem. I rethreaded the bolt, but truthfully I can hear a small tick because it won't hold securely. One of these days I am going to get that resolved by installing headers.

thats one hell of a tight spot though. what size did you use to rethread it?

You know I can't remember off the top of my head. But I still have the part. To figure out the exact size I went into the hardware section with the lug-nut and found the perfect fit, and then just bought the re-threader. It is 1inch, so yes it is a very tight squeeze getting a socket over that and then balancing it perfectly to rethread the bolt. If you can't figure out what size I'll check on the part tonight since it's in my garage. truthfully, I don't think I'll ever need it again so if your in no hurry and want to save $5 I could throw it in the mail for you.

that stud is a biotch!! im glad im not te only one that had a hard time. I actually was able to replace the old stud, it is just screwed into the flange. If you can get a pair of pliers on it(i used channel locks) you should be able to twist it out... luckily i had a bolt that fit so i just threw that back in it's place.
