Default transbrake? questions

Hi i was wondering what a transbrake was? I have never raced automatic vehicles and i know many prostreet guys are running turboglides and other various automatic transmissions. How does it work? and what are the main bennfits when using a trans brake?

First off, automatics are the best hands down, secondly a transbrake is just what it sounds like, you can stage hit the transbrake and bring the converter to full stall without worrying about creeping through the stage beams. When you release the transbrake it hits instantly.

yeah i know auto domoniate the strip world, but i still love my 5 speed. so it basically allows you to reve the motor to a cetrain degree much like when im slippin the clutch and then launch the car. then it enguages and takes off?

how does this not blow the converter when it attaches at 3k+ rpm?

trans brake is more for auto trans. manual trans enjoy line lock. this locks front brakes. as for the converter question, dont worry about it. you dont have one on manual shift trans. the clutch takes its job. drag strip launches take alot of trial and error. there is ALOT of tricks and devices used. you will like the line lock.

A trans brake is like neutral dropping the car, except it dosn't hurt the trans... It puts the trans between 1st and reverse by pushing a button, usually you rev (with a 2 step) anywhere between 2500-5000 rpms, and when you release the button the trans engages HARD... It's only good if you have slicks on the car or you will just be wasting your time.... It's mainly used on high HP applications
