Default Never ending Problem!!!

Ok well recently my car starting missing at higher speeds, 80mph, when I floor it. Then it climbed its way down the ladder and it now misses when ever I floor it. It backfires like crazy also. I just did the ignition with Taylor wires, autolite plugs and msd cap & rotor. I rechecked all the wires and they seem fine, no melting. Also the car likes to die on me which I heard is a problem with the Ignition control module. Would the ICM cause the missing too or no? I have put countless amounts of fuel system cleaner ranging from STP to techron and no luck. Anyone got any input on what this could be? Whats the most common place I can start looking? I dont want to go out and buy a 60 dollar ICM if that may not be the problem. Thanks guys.

Try cleaning the MAF.This sensitive little marvel could be dirty causing the ECM to think the engine is running at a lower speed than it really is,causing the computer to give a lean mixture. This might very well not be your problem but it's one of the cheapest solutions.Clean with electronic parts cleaner or alcohol and a cotton swab, but be gentle, the little wire element is fragile.
If this doesn't help check the TPS for dead spots.Use an analog (needle) ohm meter, disconnect the TPS from the wiring harness, hook up the ohm meter to the TPS sensor and move the throttle back and forth. You should get a steady rise and fall of the needle. If not, there's a worn place in the TPS and it will need to be replaced.
If any of this helps let us know.

I heard today from the second person that its the fuel pump. Word on the block also is that fords fuel pumps suck. Could that be a big possibility.

Haha I was just going to drop my friend off somewhere and I pull up next to a bullit mustang. I wanted to race and so did he. Unfortunatley my car shut off on me so I couldnt do anything. Then some guy pulls up and parks and tells me its the fuel pump. After a while the car finally turned on but the bullit was no where to be found.

Yeah ofcourse I check em. Haha. I read everything you said I was just putting more things I heard out. I'm taking everything in and trying to rule things out and such. Grabbem did your car backfire when you did turn it on or no?

And I see what you mean about the fuel pump going out and staying out. Just thought it might be a possibility.

Also the car is missing like crazy. I rearanged the wires and that didnt help. After reading your post maybe it has something to do with the dist. That would cause a missing problem. The turning off started way way before it started missing though.

no there is no way for me to borrow one. Im the only one with a mustang out of my friends. I do know a guy with a 93 engine in ranger. I can ask him but are they the same?
