Default Govenor/ speed limiter

I DID NOT SEE ANY OTHER POST ABOUT THIS
i am mostly into import but recently i am thinking about purchasing an 01 mustang but a friend of mine got one and says the govenor is a big problem does anyone knows how to either remove it or even fry it anyway i can get rid of it because if i purchase the one i am looking at i dont want the govenor to be a problem anyone have any info on that i would really appreciate it thanx
also does anyone know where it is located that would also help thank you

ive taken my 01 GT up to 130(ran out of room or i woulda gone faster) and i know people have gone upwards of 140....this isnt fast enough?? oh and mine is a 5spd and i dont believe it is governed

tuners usually eliminate the govenor

yea, you dont wanna "fry" the govenor... its a program in the computer, not a piece of electronic hardware. if you fry the govenor, you fry your whole computer[8D]

why dont you buy a car beacuse its reliable and has a good reputation / pep / engine .... rather then if you can go 160+mphs or not.

145? If that, it may be higher than that... you'll run out of steam before you get up to that speed either way.

Not sure if this still holds true or not but on my friends '93 LX5.0, you had to hold the off button on the cruise control for 3 or 5 seconds to disable the speed limiter.
