Help Please!
okay i just got an 85 or an 86 mustang lx(not shure of the year have not got a title) it came from a junkyard and has a stock running 2.3 4 cyl in it... it has the TFI ignition system on it and im planning on swapping the 4 banger out for a 5.0 hi-po out of an 84 ltd crown vic wagon...it also has the TFI system i was just wondering if i will have to change anything other than the motor...the electronics seem to be the same where it plugs into the distributer i just wonderd if the cdi box needed to be changed and if so where is it and are there any other things? and if so where are they located? oh and will i need new motor mounts and crossmember for the stang or is the one for the LTD crown vic the same? Any help Greatly appreciated thank you

First to find out if it is a 85 or 86, look at the trunk deck lid. If it has the 3rd brake light, it is an 86, without, it is an 85. That is unless somebody changed it out. This is just a quick way to find out. As far as changing out everything, I think you will. The computer is different between a 4 cyl and an 8 cyl. From what I remember, the crown vic doesn't have the Hi-po 5.0 engine in it. It just has 5.0 engine. There is a few Hp difference between the two.
