Default Cig lighter outlet not working...

Well, I don't smoke, but I need it to plug my phone into. It hasn't worked since I got the car I believe and doesn't have a cig lighter (all the more reason for me to buy a billet one)!

I checked the fuse in the engine compartment and the metal "U" piece is intact and it doesn't look burnt. I guess I could replace it anyway w/a piece from Ford, but it's Easter Sunday, so I guess I'll have to wait on that.

Dash has never been pulled to my knowledge. What could it be?

Thanks.

Ok.. so you mean the reciever, as well as lighter... gotcha.

But it's both lighters.. the one in the console and the one in the dash. They're both controlled by the same fuse, so I thought that might explain it.

I really want both of them to work b/c...well.. I want my car's stuff to work, damnit!

Thanks for the advice, but I'm really hoping that's not the case... me+ install = [sm=smiley35.gif] and hell if I'm gunna pay someone to do it!

Fuses always don't look burnt out. Check it with a mulitmeter for continuity. That's happened to me once or twice, it looks ok but is acutlly bad.

is there anything in the old lighter reciever.... I once had a dime stuck in the bottom of it and it shorted them both out.... Plus you could have a short in some of those wires... Replace the fuse anyways... I cant remember or not but I think the wires are sodered to the back of the reciever the sodder could have pulled lose
