Default 87 or 91 octane for the GT?

I used to have a ricer and all i put in the car was 91 high performance, but that's because it was turbo. now with the GT i don't know what to do, i hear a lot of people say stick with 87 on the GT. Can i get more input please?

ive always put high octane in my 96 cobra...im pretty sure its a must in all modular 4.6s..ive also hear from many of mustang owners that if you run low octane..you have a chance of hurting your motor..so i would have to say..stick with the higher octane

to be honest with ya..ive always thought that the knocking from a high performance motor comes from lack of octain..so if you hear any kind of knocking at all...run your car almost out of gas(not all the way because you dont wana suck up any junk from the bottom of your gas tank)and fill that bad boy up with some not so cheap gas..i know its expensive but hey..sports cars arnt cheap..and yeah ive always put 91 or better in my cobra

I used to run the lower octane and it never cuased any problems but I've been running the "good ****" for a long time now. I just suck it up and get it, better off in the long run.

87 Octane is fine for the base stangs. That is what I use and was told to use.

Any car should get more hp from a higher octane, that's why they use higher octanes in race cars and sell "race fuel" at the track where I live.

At the track they sell 110 octane. Is that to much to high to run just for the track?
