Default electric fan

i have a 70 mustang with a 351 windsor, i want to put an electric fan on it, when as for wireing, i dont know about the temp. sensor. i have looked at many different options. i dont want to put on an on/off switch, i actually want a temp. sensor. do i have to drill and tap my manifold or can i thread one in somewhere?? because i really dont wnat to have to drill my manifold, that would just be a pain in the ***.

i just replaced my fan and i thought the temp. sensor was in the fan assembly itself. don't know about the manifold. [sm=sorry.gif]

couple of options here...get a fan w/ a temp probe that tucks in the fins of the radiator or look for a threaded hole on the heads or intake near the upper hose/thermostat housing. you might find a port that has a vacuum switch (emission device) that you can move or bypass (nobody likes that emissions crap anyway) and get one that is set for about 10-15 degrees above your thermostat temp. that way the fan will be off when you're cruising, and come on when you stop for a while. may also want to think about wiring through a switched feed or straight to the battery. there are advantages of each.

2002, the ecu controls the fan on the newer ones
