Dealer installed Ford Alarm: Does your alarm trip when the trunk is opened?
I have a Ford alarm in my car that was a dealer installed option. I opened the trunk while the alarm was active and it didn't set off the alarm. Is that normal?
What's the pre-arm mode for?

You know...never tried it...
The way I understand alarms, it definately should set off the alarm when the trunk is opened. Alarm works off the sensors in the dash and lights, doors. When the trunk is opened, the light comes on and the trunk open signal comes on the dash.
Take it back and have them do it right. Your 2004 should have come with the alarm factory installed also

The user's guide for the alarm says it will trip when any entrance is opened. I guess it could be argued that the trunk is not an entrance. I'll check with the dealer.
I think the dome light comes on when you pull on the door handle, even if it is locked and won't open. At least it did on my 96 Ranger and 03 Expedition. I'll have to check if my 04 Mustang does it too.
