Default Rear whine

When I turn on accessories/when the car is running, there is a loud high-pitched whine that comes from the rear end of the car. Is this my fuel pump? If it is, is it bad? I know that it's a process, but is there anything that can be done to fix it short of replacing the pump?

I doubt it is the fuel pump. If you don't know what the fuel pump sounds like just turnt he key a little bit ..not turnign the car on ...and you will see what it sounds like.

Yeah, it's a different sound than a normal pump, perhaps something's wrong? I can't think of anything else back there that would be making that noise w/ accessories or a running engine...any other ideas?

have you gotten out of the car to pinpoint the sound. I know alot of times things will seem like they are behind me when they are under or in front just because of the exhaust and everything else.
