Default RE: Timing....Help!!!

My car actually weighs 2100 lbs.

Here's one thing I got to thinking about. Now I said the headers were glowing orange...but I just now remembered that #1 header was specifically not glowing and was a bit cooler than the others. However, according to the spark plugs, they all looked like they were burning evenly. Could there be the off chance that something funky is going on with spark to that cylinder causing it to be screwing up the timing light? I guess I could time #3 and if it's more or less than 90 degrees different than #1, something's up (off top of my head I think #3 is after #1 on 351 firing order).

what should my measured compression be during a compression check....ballpark? Granted, these are new pistons and rings w/ 80 miles on them.

Thanks

2100 lbs what are running a rail!!! I really would like a run down cause 2100 is not belivable. Cranking compression will vary depending on cam overlap, but lok for around 150 psi give or take, remember to pull all the spark plugs when doing the compression check.

2100 lbs is a fact...I think most people missed that I posted in my second post on this timing thread above that this is in my 427 Cobra replica and not my Mustang...sorry...

It does indeed weigh 2100 lbs and is an handfull at full throttle (that is when your headers aren't glowing and timing so screwed up.)

It's a beast alright...can't handle weather well though!

It's about deafening at full throttle. I'm breaking in a spec clutch right now and I'm trying to be good about it so WOT will wait for another 400 miles.

I just wish I could figure this damn timing problem out...just very strange that #1 doesn't glow.

Ah...I was going to suggest a compression check, but I see we've already covered that. Seems pretty odd that the plugs all look the same, but #1 doesn't heat the header like the others do.

I'd start there, from the way you've explained it, almost sounds like it's not firing at all. Did you check the spark? Maybe it fired before, making the plug look like the rest, but it's not anymore.
