Default gear selections

I'm thinking about swapping out the stock 3.27's for either 3.55's or 3.73's. Which would you suggest and what will RPM's be at 70-80mph? Was it a big difference over stock 3.27's in all driving situations?

go with the 3.73's, you will get the most bang for your buck with them and the rpms won't really change more than 200-300 rpm at highway speeds.

Yep 3.73's will be the better performer, in exchange for a few rpm's (were referring to a 5.0 I assume)

From what others on this forum have said, on the newer 4.6 engines you need to go to 4.10 gears to really have the right gears for an automatic.

be a man and go with 4.56. I dont know much about gears but I have rode in md's car with 4.10's and it makes my stock gears feel like sissys. Thats why Im going to place an order for 4.10's.......or maybe 4.30's. Cant go wrong with either one IMO.

yea go with at least 4.10's with an auto or you will be REALLY disappointed, and 4.30's are really more appropriate if your looking for good acceleration
