Default clutch down while turning bad for car?

I'm completely new to driving a stick shift car and I had a friend tell me that turning the car with the clutch down can cause the alignment to get messed up. I wanted a second opinion on that. He said he ran into issues with his saturn by doing that.

A saturn isnt a mustang. Regardless, even in his saturn he shouldnt have any issues with it messing up his alignment, unless he's revving it up and dumping the clutch with the wheels cranked right or left. And if he did that then your friend is a complete dumbass and NEVER let him drive your car.

I also heard that pushin the clutch down while shifting is bad. It causes un-needed wear and tear on the drivetrain.

Am I really reading this right? You're supposed to push the clutch while shifting, it's what it's there for. It's possible to shift w/o using the clutch, but it takes some practice and skill and you'll probably just end up damaging the tranny anyway, unless you're driving a semi or something, most of them shift w/o the clutch. But for your sake..press your clutch when you shift.

If I push the clutch in, will this keep my gears from grinding?
