hey guys. i have a stock 95 gt auto tranny. when im on the freeway and need to pass someone or something when the tranny downshifts to 3rd its a super hard downshift. it even makes kind of a banging noise. what might this be? now i have another question. i want to pull this damn tranny out anyways and put a different auto in it. i would put a manual in there but that would require way too much work and entirely too much money. what are my options on a new tranny for this car? if i put another automatic in it will i have to do all the rear end and linkage crap? thanks.

 

Sounds like a typical tranny mount.

I'm unfamiliar with any aftermarket automatic transmission's for your car that wouldn't cost an unbelievable amount of money.

 

well i can get ANY tranny dirt cheap. so let me know what u recommend.

 

I don't know if yours is electronic, but you can have it reprogrammed to provide the shifting you want if it is. With a 5.0, your selection of trannies is pretty large, it just depends on what you want. For bulletproof, go C6, but you lose the OD. For silky smooth, look for a tranny out of a Lincoln.
