I just helped a buddy put in a 289 v8 into a 89 4 banger stang, Just had to fab up the motor mounts and new drive shaft.

the most common swaps are for a 302 (the stock v8), a 351W, and a 460.

Get a turbo 2.3L. It should drop in without too much trouble, and it'll give you plenty of pep.
