Default 8.8 Rear End

Hey what's up all. I'm an F-body guy but I'm looking for an 8.8 inch Ford rear end posi with 3.55's. I'm planning on modding it to fit in my trans am. I've looked all over online for one and nobody really has anything. I figured you guys would be a better resource. Thanks in advance for the help.

mpsautosalvage.com, try and find one out of a mach one, they came with 3.55s, all the others are either 2.73s/3.08s/3.27s

Try Currie. You may want to think 9" Ford...they're a little stronger and you'll have a removable 3rd member that is reasonably quick to swap with different gears.

So they're aren't any real notible differences between the 8.8 inch 3.55 posi and a ford 9 inch? Does the 9 inch come with a 3.73? There is this one trans am that this guy built and I'm working on an exact replica only a year older so getting the right parts is key.

The 9" has as many and probably more available ratios. This is the rear end that most serious racers will use.

Call Currie and tell them what you're doing. They can probably even put on your spring perches and get you the right width.

Alright I'm probably just going to stick with a 9. They actually make a GM 9 that fits my stock axles but I might go with the Ford one because they're supposed to be better. Whats a Dana 60?

Colorado, i think recommended the best thing.......Currie Enterprises. They can set you up with about anything you need. I had them take my 8.8, cut and weld on 9" bearing flanges to run 9" axles. I got the housing back clean...they tumbled it. Great job.

I shot them an email yesterday. What are their prices like?

I also emailed DTS and they said they wouldn't do it.
