Hey i have decided on building a 408 stroker from a 351W. what years should i get for the block, and what vehicals did they come in? i want to go solid roller too so that may play into block selection. let me know, so i can start looking in the classifieds for old fords!! thanks Jeff

 

If you want EFI, go with a newer truck. There are quite a few you can find them in, you just need to know what you are looking for.

If you want carb'd look in older cars, damn near anything Ford could shove that motor in, they did! a lot of late 60's early 70's cars had it and I'm almost sure you can convert from EFI to carb just by removing a few sensors and plugs.

Don't know what you are putting it in, nor the type of use you want to get out of it. A little more info on the car itself would help a little.

 

its going to go in a 83 notch back. i want a 408 stroker, carbed, solid roller, nitrous. its going to be an all out drag car. never to be on the street. i am thinking 11:1 or a little higher comp ratio. car will have a 10 or 12 point cage, fuel cell, upgraded stock style suspension, C-6 auto with a transbrake, as much weight as i can take out of it, and be as fast as possible with what i can afford. id like to make 450 to 500 RWHP before the N2o.

 

well, theres a guy here randy(and some numbers, as his SN) he's got a 408 stroker and it's making about 430HP. try looking for him. he posts a lot in OT so finding him there should be easy. maybe he could help ya a little more.

 

94 trucks have roller blocks in them like the f350s. vans too. but if your going solid cam it doesn't matter what year block it is 69s the best then 72s i got a 94 f 350 with n.o.s. = 700 hp its ok.
