Default Intake Manifold gaskets

An auto-parts store told me that when replacing intake manifold gaskets to use permatex on the front and back of the manifold instead of the cork gaskets. Will this work? Has anybody done this? I'm doing mine tomorrow so any info would help.

i would use both...put a good dab at each end and put some along the gasket too...if you can get the rubber ones from ford, they kind of "snap" in, the fit a little better, i think they have a lip on them

The cork ones usually have that little tab at each end too. Would you permatex both sides of the gasket? I replaced all the lifters so now I have an oil leak behind the dist... &*%$ !!!!

I think that was the problem b4. It slid as it went down. It helps to have another set of hands...
