I just purchased my first mustang.....a 66' convertable (6 cyl). It runs great except when I start in the normal drive position it will not shift out of first. However, I can shift it manually into second and or start out in second. I drove it home (6 hrs) and it ran fine at 65-70 miles/hour. Do I have a bad tranny or just some adjustments that might need to be made?

ok, the normal dot that you think is "drive" is second only...from the top down...Park, Reverse, Neutral, 2nd, Drive, 1st

So if I use the green dot I should not have to move it correct? If I use the green dot it will not shift out of first, however I can manually shift it into second or the small dot.
