Hey guys--

wife sees me fixing up my cars, now wants hers fixed up.
2001 explorer sport trac 4.0l v6

I ran into 2 problems i could use some advice on...

1. how do you get the gas lines of the fuel filter. ??I got the metal clips off and released presure on the system but the
lines won't budge??

2. how do you get the back 2 spark plugs on the right side of the engine out??? there is no room for tools or hands there has got to be a trick, tool or a secret way to remove them.


Any help is appreciated,

I am looking to learn on the less important cars so I can do things right on the Stang. The more I learn now,
the less damage I can do in the future.

 

You need a tool to remove the filter.

As for the plugs, I'd have to see it to know what to do.

you would think the guys at advanced would know to sell me the tool... they know I am not real experienced at this car stuff.

 

dont know what its called. probably fuel filter remover. the filter i bought for my car came w/ 2 of them they were just little plastic things that slide kinda inside the filter connectiont thing and it reases it...along w/ a lot of fuel all over my right arm.....

to get at the hard to reach plugs I had to jack up on stands, remove wheel,remove all plastic inside of wheel well and then play with the wrech position to fight out the plugs. tough but a good experience.

I have a neighbor that has the fuel line removal tool-- I will use that tommorrow to swap the filter.
