Default help!

whenever my 96 stang LX goes over 50 or so, and im NOT accelerating, the car tends to shake. The odd part is that i goes away when i accelerate. any ideas? Also at around 75ish or so, there is a really annoying squeeking that comes from the rear of the car. any ideas there?

thanks in advance,

chris

Does it feel like a vibration or more of a push and pull. IF its a push and pull, its probably backlash in your rear-end. My 5.0 does the same thing if lugging a high gear or decelerating in a high gear. It feels like its shakin u back and forth.

Well not knowing what it is that you are feeling ....

It could be basically anything that rotates in the car with enough mass to move the body....

Bent rims bent axles,

Damaged or out of balance drive shaft

Defective or out of balance tires

Pinion angle on the differential. This angle may change somewhat under load so it may be your problem since you seem to describe that it goes away as you accelerate.

The question is how did the problem start? did it start after a repair such as a flat tire fix or did it get worse slowly.
