I am a new owner of a 2000 mustang gt and was wondering if there are any common problems with them to look out for. I have heard about the intake manifold cracking, how often does this happen and how do I prevent it without replacing the entire manifold? Are there any issues with the engine or transmission?

 

i would worry, i had a 2000Gt for a while with NO problems at all. i drove mine for 30k miles so dont sweat it. But if your paranoied look into it

 

You're safe Kyle. The intake manifold was a problem on the 96-98 GT's, but Ford revised them in 99, adding an aluminum passage in the front of the manifold. You can see the differance if you look at the non-PI engine(96-98), and the PI engine(99-04). The passage is right behind the alternator.
