need some information on an engine swap....?
i just got my 95 gt totalled[:@]... my engine is fine and most of the body and everything in it. i was gunna buy a whole font clip and replace it, but thats gunna run about a few grand. when i thought all was lost i ran into a guy online not 2 far from me that was sellin a 97 gt shell. everythin but the motor! from what the guy says my engine will bolt right up... the only thing im worried about is my harness and ECU(computer) will match up goin from a 4.6 to a 5.0... i mean i have all the parts from my car just the body is gone... and this guy is sellin the shell for $700 so... sounds like a good deal.. let me know any input and info on the engine swap... if u know of a guide or anything that could help email me either on here or at my email.... lord_bizfamo@yahoo.com or A.evets@gmail.com
please im in dire need of help and advice ... just a note i have everything to pull the engine and parts so thats not the problem just the fact if they will match up and whats the easiest way to do this??

Should be basically the same car. You'll want to pull your computer and wiring out of your GT to put in the roller.

 

cool thx bro... i cant believe this ****.. im parked my car and went to go check some **** out and bam! i come back ad my ****s ****ed... no one saw anything! effin gay !! but yeah this guy has a shell im think it wounldnt be hard to swap it out... that was my only issue was the harness.. what about my exhaust tho ? will that fit in 2? the car looks the same just wanted to know what else will get in my way of makin this possible... ? and have u heard of anyone doing this... i would put in somethin better in the shell but im a college student wrkin with no money here.. im borrowin the money for the shell and just wonderin what else i might need... ???

Make sure to have your now-parts-car present for the entire swap to make sure you have everything you need to get it up and running. You should have no problems.

 

yeah i have my car in front of my house... i was just askin bc im gunna buy this shell.. just wanted to see if its possable.? thx , have u ever heard of this before from anyone wanting to drop a 5.0 in a newer gt...?? is it even worth the trouble? i mean me myself am not a big fan of the 4.6 so yeah ... any input will help thx again

 

The only issue you will have is emission legality since the engine is older than the car. But, the 5.0L is definitely easier to get power out of, and for less money. The 4.6L does get a lot better mileage, however, especially in the 99+ versions.

 

okay so how will i go about gettin the emissions done on the car...tell them its a 95 in a 97 or what im not due for emissions for another year on my car. i know its going to be diff bc the fact that its a new car and title... tell me what u think.. and the other question i had... serisouly tho have u heard of anyone doin this... bc i dont want to be a jackass that should put something else in the shell... i mean if its a waste of my time... thx again im gunna post some pics of my car and the new shell when i buy it... hopefully soon i want my baby back... lol

 

Assuming the title is good and you live in a state where emissions isn't inspected annually you should be ok with this change. The year of the car is based on the body and not the motor so you're actually upgrading from what you originally had. Do you live in a state where annual inspections are required? If so, what is checked out? In my state the only items checked on the emissions systems are the initial components like the catilytic converter, etc. Make sure you transfer your components and as long as the state doesn't stick a probe in your tail pipe you'll do fine.

 

this is the thing in my state.. on the 95 they run the car and check the exhuast... plug the things on and runn it on the wheelthingys..... and i know with the new years like 98 or so all they do is lug into the obd sensor and check the car then they either pass u or fail. so now im worrid how would i do get it to pass the test if the 95 is not Obd... so what about dropin a 4.6 head and intake on the 5.0 block? is that possable....

 

or is there an adapter u know of that will make the 95 OBD compatible...? now being in a 97 what there gunna see at the emissions test is a 97 but im not gunna have the hook up bc of the diff ECU and Harness... is there anyway to make this happen or is this a lost cause...?
