Default Tires and wheels help

I just bought my first Mustang, and 94 V6 and, although I've never been a gearhead, much less a Mustang enthusiast, I find myself becoming helplessly HOOKED. So after I washed, waxed, armorall'd, etc, I really need to get new tires. I think I'm going to get 2 17x9" and 2 17x10.5" wheels, but as a newbie, I don't know what tires to get for something like this. Can anyone help me out as to a good tire specification? Also, what would be a good brand? Right now I'm feeling kinda partial to BFG. Also, anyone think of better wheel dimensions that what I'm leaning toward? I just don't know how they'll affect performance.
Thanks! It's great to be a part of the club!

Welcome to the forums headbanger... Your car would look a lot better with those wheels by filling those big wheel wells, but with the increase in rotational mass and V6 combo you may end up unhappy with its giddy up and go... But, that will be okay when you bolt on a KenneBell supercharger... If you go the route of the 17x9s/17x10.5s, check out my thread on good cheap tires https://mustangforums.com/m_2111310/tm.htm ... I would just stay away from the Yokahamas... Then again, if money is no issue, you can spend a grand or two on some really quality sticky ones... About any of the tires in that price range are going to do you right.

Do some lookin around here and you'll find some pics of different wheel/tire combos. Sounds like a 275/40 and 315/35 would work.

As 7 said, you'll lose some mileage and a little power to the larger rotational mass and friction increase, but it will look good. A set of GT rims for the New Edge (99-04) with 245/45-17's would look good, too.

Well, here's something else that I'm considering...need some advice from those who are much smarter than I...
Obviously I have a V6...and it has about 104K on the mileage. It was always taken very good care of and runs like a champ. Check out my before and after pics in my photo album. It is a great car that looks and runs great. But ultimately, it's a V6. What I'm thinkin is fix 'er up a little more, mainly focusing on aesthetics, then see if I can sell it and get a V8/GT or something. I bought it from a personal friend for a whopping $1500...I'm sure I could make a decent profit.
What do you guys think?
