Default driveshaft

will the aluminum driveshafts that frpp makes fit a 4r70w trany? most say they fit a manual gt but i heard from someone that if you swap out the yoke or however you spell that, they should fit a V6 too. also how hard/easy is it to install a new driveshaft. im sure i can do it i just need to know how.

Default RE: driveshaft

First, why would you want to change out the driveshaft? I installed an aluminum one on my Cobra, but I was sadly mistaken at the difference there would be in the two of them due to my experience with older driveshafts... Though I am not sure you would have the same drive shaft as the Coibra, it is most likely the same. The drive shaft was a hollow metal one (it did look like it would be heavy... not much weight saved by swapping, almost nothing... I am sure that it is stronger though... Too bad I don't have the kind of HP to where that would come in to play... But if you still want to do the swap:

Once you get the car on some jack-stands, look the driveshaft over... You will see some bolts on a flange that once loosened, will allow you to take the driveshaft off... before you remove the shaft, make some marks on the flange and driveshaft so that when you either reinstall it, or the new one, you will be able to put it back in the same way... when you pull the driveshaft off of the transmission, be ready for some fluid loss... you can stop it with a plastic bag...

Default RE: driveshaft

i did want to because of the whole weight thing. i thought it would be a ton heavier than the new one. i was hopein to get a tiny bit more power to the wheels. but if they hardly save anything then i wont mess with it. thanks for the reply man.
