WHAT TO DO
IN ABOUT 5 MONTHS I WILL NEED TO MAKE A BIG DECISION TO KEEP MY 98 GT WITH 176,000 PLUS MILES HAVE IT REBUILT AND PAINTED OR JUST BUY A 99-02 COBRA, I LOVE MY CAR BUT IT NEEDS ALOT OF WORK INSIDE AND OUT. LMK

I just bought a longblock from MMR for my 01 GT, so I know how expensive it can be. If I were you, I'd look into selling your car while it still runs. If you wait for something to break before you make your decision, then you will lose potential money when you sell your car. You're going to have to weigh your options and decide how much money you're willing to spend. It may sound simple to switch out an engine, but it will cost you a pretty penny!

I would get the newer Cobra if I were you... You could make that GT into one hell of a car by upgrading all of the parts, but dollar for dollar you would be miles ahead with the Cobra... unless you plan on mega HP. Then I would keep the GT, build a low compression bullet-proof engine with a supercharger boosting the **** out of it, rework all of the suspension upgrading everything, get all of the interior redone with some high quality Italian leather, and then get the paintjob that you have always wanted for the car… come to think of it, that is what I would do (if I had that kind of money[&o] ).

buy a 99-02 GT and forge the internals
BTw the GT will stomp the cobra with forged interals- I mean unless your going to spend MORE money and chnage the stock cobra blower out - anyway you cut it building a 2/v and FI is cheaper and better (for street cars) then buying a cobra (10,000.00 more dollars) and modding it (10,000.00) more dollars - you must remeber that parts and labor are even more expensive for 4v's
If I was rich I buy a 03 04 cobra and modd the hell out of it - but since Im not ill modd my GT and eventually smoke the cobra but for about half the price
