I'm gonna get my car painted at MAACO! As soon as I'm done I'm taking it home to bolt on my brand new Powerdyne Supercharger! If I get that done in time I can add my Cold Fusion Nitrous kit and my Gorillachipz power chip! I can't wait!

I am going to second two things that have been thrown out here... either buy the tools and do it yourself (after practicing on something other than your car), or just leave it as it is... I am not the most well of either, so my 97 cobra is a nice shade of oxidized black[:'(]... but when I put a Nu Finish "wax" job on it, it looks as good as if I got it painted (and all for just a couple of bucks)[8D].

LISTEN AND LISTEN GOOD - MACCO WILL *** YOUR CAR UP!!!!!!

Its cheap *** enamel paint - DO NOT DO IT if you have a nice car ... you can find a local painter to use real paint and do it for 400-500 bucks - PLEASE I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT I know mustang owners like me - you will very disaapointed and you ruin the value of your car - macco is good for everyone else (but not you) lol

macco is a decent job for 1200 but you have to buy their highest package - and even still its cheap *** enamel that I wouldn't paint my valves stem caps with
- find a local repair place w/ a decent rep and say hey ill give 500 bucks to do a respray on my car (no crazy colors)

Hey guys this coming week im supposed to get my mustang painted and was wondering if yall have ever used Maaco overall do they do a good job? Im probably gonna get the basic package I think its still on sale for 250 I live in Houston and im not that rich im pretty much on the border of poor lol thats why I cant get the deluxe or whatever you call it. So I would really appreciate your input on them thanks.
I can relate to being broke man but...... If the car is at all passible the way it is (meaning is the paint at all decent looking?) then your better off leaving it. In most cases a Maaco paint job will lower the value of the car, look like crap and not last more than a year without chipping. Save your money
Actually its peeling all over and its white so the gray shows up easily I mean a maaco paintjob cant be worse than that can it? Ill try and post some picture if I go see it this weekend. And its also rusting a little where its peeling what do yall recommend I do my dad has been sanding it and then applying this rust remover spray that durns the rust black will that work?

actually it can - bc ones you do that - ALL of that paint has to be sanded off to repaint - basically back to metal - and trippling the cost of your second paint job - that you Will have to have and WIll get done somewhere else - skip the middle step and get REAL paint job for 500 bucks at any body shop.

From what I've gathered so far is the paint is peeling and the metal underneath is rusting.A Maaco paint job will not cover that up.The car is going to have to be stripped to bare metal where there's rust and down to good paint where there's not.
If your'e wanting to keep the car for awhile, get at least a real body shop to give you an estimate.I think the Maaco price is pretty much for just a paint job,no body work or extras.Cleaning rust and stripping paint qualifies as body work,so I doubt the $250 price will apply.
How about a local highschool or college body shop class?????They usually take more time but you get a fairly good job for a reasonable price (or FREE).
Like someone else said, you could probably do a better job yourself with basic tools and an enclosed garage.

No real body shop will paint the car for $500. This car needs some pretty extesive work, $500 might barley cover the materials for the paint job.

well ... I can give 4 shops that will do a respray for 500 - you gotta look harder

However to be fair Im sure you are knowledgable and are refering to a GOOD job - a job that people who are very particular would not be pissed off about. ANY job that I would get would cost at least 2 k- But in reality the job i would get would cost me about 7k - so I bought the crap and learned to do it myslef - the paint store is a great resource for advice - Anyway our friend here is looking for something better than maaco job at a maaco price... - and your paint job will almost always be better if you do the prep job yourself

yea at least prep and prime your stuff yourself - the hwole car doesnt have to come down to metal I promise but you have to "work out" all the low spots due to areas will you will have to go down to metal
