Default quick question

hey guys,
i got a quick question. ive got a all stock 66 289 coupe with a 3 speed in it. i was thinking about getting a tack this weekend. what rpm should i shift at to get the most power. just curious. keep in mind its totally stock besides being completely rebuilt lately.

Yeah, there's really no way to know until you look at the flow chart and see where your drop off is.

Dyno will give you best shift points especially for a car like that.

When you car feel like it stops pull, changes gears. Don't go over 6,000 rpms. Don't hold it to long at a high rpm to long.

If your car is stock, I'm sure we can find some charts somewhere. Its a stock 289 with a three speed. Just have fun with it. Your not going to take to the track, so who cares if you shift in the right place on not. Just along you don't blow the motor. Right?

well since he doesn't have a dyno in his back yard...you boys are spoiled

FORD289...your best bet is to do a lil expremitting...with that 3 speed thier isn't must topend on that car...try shift at 4500 then work your way up to arounf 5k....the engine will drop off atleast 5k due to the small cam
