88 stang , rear end makes a chattering noise ?

Chattering in corners is from the clutches in your diff. They are either worn or the friction modifiers in your fluid is shot.

I had to replace my 8.8 a while back do to the same problem... it was chattering when cornering to the left... took it apart and found all of the internals (gears and all) chewed to heck... lucky the axels where still good and for about 700 dollars, I got a new 8.8 to throw them in... I would recommend going that route unless you know a really good and cheap shop to bring your car to. I have seen a lot of shops mess up when trying to fix problems in the rear differential (my two cents worth)…

the noise sounds like its comming from the left brear wheel area,when i give some throttle or let off the throttle i hear it,when i get it inbetween it stops, any ideas? thanks russ

the noise sounds like its comming from the left rear wheel area,when i give it throttle or let off i get the noise,when i get it inbetween it stops (when im going straight, any ideas? thanks russ

Check the nut that holds the pinion gear in on the cradle, had that noise on mt truck an it was just the loos pinion nut.

check the rear jumping arm..just spray some lubricant like wd-40 on it..may be
