Default motor/tranny conversion

hi guys. i have a 98 gt. i plan on replacing the motor and tranny with one of two options. 1) 408 stroker with t56 6speed. 2) 390 (possibly upstroked as well to say 427) and I would like to also use that same t56. my question is will that t56 bolt up to the 390 and what would i need to change suspension wise to fit the 390 in my engine bay? thanks for any input

You can stroke 351W to 427 too. Even to 500 C.I.D.. My plan is to use 427 stroker, blown, megasquirt EFI, and 5 speed Xtract sequential gear box. If you go Xtract, cost is more, but they costom made their trannys to fit your application. As far as T56 to 351W, its been done.

Saleen used to have S351 line, which was an SN95 with blown 351W. I havent done research on suspencion, but Saleen suspencion out of S351 should be a very respectible choice.

By the way, some of the strocker kits nowadays solve a lot of problems with large 351W strockers. Best is to ask around people who use different kind of strocker kits and go with the most reliable one.

My mouth begins to water when I picture a 427 small block with intercooled vortech sitting in my stangs engine bay.

grab a k-member for a 94-95 mustang, aftermarket or stock, because they have 5.0 mounts, and a 351 is the big brother to the 5.0...you should just have to worry about hood clearance with the extra height...dunno too much about mounting points for the t56, there is probably a conversion kit out there so input shafts and bolt holes line up...it'll be a killer combo...good luck

Stroked Windsor would be the easiest.

An FE big-block would be the coolest. IF the T56 has a removable bell housing and that bell housing can be purchased for an FE, and if the T56 has the right sized input shaft, then, yes the T56 will bolt to an FE. As far as the suspension, you'll need springs/shocks that are up to the task of holding up that much weight.

BTW...you'll need a 427 block to get that optimal big bore/short stroke engine (a 427 uses a 390 crank, but has a larger bore). Throw a 428 crank in your 390 block to get a 410.
