Default RPMs changing please Help

When I gun it and im in top gear it feels sluggish, It still goes but when I let off the gas just alittle the motor sounds louder it feels like it goes faster when I let up just a little. Im getting A tune up and changing the Gas filter. Its a 2001 GT (auto) and the only thing I have on it is Air Intake (Mac cold Air) 76K on it. Could it be anything els?I want to try Sea foam but kinda scared to many mixed fealings on it in here. Thanks for your help

Dont use seafoam, its redneck alternative to rebuild, bad. You looking for long term and motor longivity, seafoam will not give you that. Its cheaper to swap heads and cams than to use a can of seafoam.

Do a tune up:

Oil
Oil filter
pcv valve
air filter
plugs
check plug coils
check front O2 sensors
check MAF sensor
clean MAF sensor
fuel filter
check EGR valve and solinoid
listen for exhaust leaks using a hose
Concentrated fuel system treatment through PCV valve hose

If you can afford use ZMax at least once

These motors can last well past 200,000 hard miles. Rousch rebuilds their cobras every 100,000 track miles, so thats durable, for NA motor it should be a little less track miles. But you talking about street miles, so its way more. My last 46 lasted me 174,000 miles, had it since 110,000. It would have went well past 200,000, if I didnt crash it.

Many of the things mentioned can't be checked without computer equipment and an in depth knowledge of sensors. Basically, change your plugs with some OE replacements. Don't believe the 100k tune up intervals...plugs will wear out within 20k miles no matter what they're made of (copper will wear out much quicker). If you have no check engine light, you have no serious problems.

Seafoam or and other intake cleaner will remove any carbon buildup. If you have carbon buildup in the first place, you aren't maintaining your car properly. Make sure to keep the air filter clean and check regularly. No filter will last 15k miles without cleaning. Paper filters in high humidity self destruct and restrict air flow within 1k miles. Don't always keep the engine in the low rpm range...lugging the engine requires a richer fuel mixture and will lead to carbon buildup. It's good for your engine to hit the high rpm's on a regular basis.

Also, replace your fuel filter. That should be done every 25k-30k miles.
