You can upgrade your 302 to have a DIY ignition controller if interested, then you will be able to dial in your timing using a laptop via a 3D table. Improves power, drivability, reliability, emissions, and fuel economy. It costs around $150 for 45 engine, for that 302 it should be $200ish, plus you get to do it yourself (hence DIY).
It also means you will be ditching your distributor.
