Going to a mechanic to get an altenator fixed or do it your self after you buy a belt and a new altenator. (I think we all know) [sm=youreright.gif]

I don't know which will be cheaper right now, but the new alternator will definitely be cheaper in the future seeing that it has a less likely chance of breaking anytime soon

cheapest option is do it yourself and use a rebuilt alternator from a name brand auto parts store who will warranty the alternator for a year or more. and nine times out of ten you don't even need a new drive belt either.

I agree, not to mention an Alternator job is short and simple. It won't take you but an HR.

Well i have 3 mustangs now and changed the altenator in one its a very simple job just take off the belt off the pully and there are i believe 3 bolts holding on ur altenator. it is much cheaper to do it urself than take it to a shop. it should take about an hour or a little more depending on whether u have done it or not before. if u have the tools i would say go for and if u have any questions about it u should buy a manual for small repairs on ur car a good investment and a good reference guide it ur doing it for the first time

buy a rebuilt altenator from pep boys or napa. change it yourself and use the money you saved to buy beer or mods

Goto an altenator shop and have your rebuilt. All of these name brand auto parts stores sell junk. I think it might be cheaper too. Its easy to put on. If your belt looks good, keep it. If it don't, keep it in your trunk. You might need it if the new one goes. Better then sitting on the side of the road.

Yea I have to agree with all the other guys installing youre new or rebuilt Alternator would be way cheaper for youre self to do, Its pretty straight forward.
