Default Convertible Top Question

I am getting a new top for my mustang, and all the pictures show a rib like thing on the back of the car just above the window. My car doesnt have this... any clue what it is. If you need a better description I can post a pic of what I am talking about. Thanks alot.

I'm not sure what the year cutoff is, but the later cars (like my 93) don't have that retainer.

What piece are you talking about? Is it the trim cap where the top meets the back window, with the little chrome end pieces?

Must just be a difference in the way the tops are put together. Are you not wanting to have this piece when you replace the top?

After looking at mine, that piece has screws that hold the top down from inside. I believe there is a wood bow under that that helps hold the top to the fabric that joins around the back glass. I would say yes, you need that.
