Default using someone else's tuner for my car?

Okay, so I have a 99 Cobra and know someone w/ a GT that has a Diablosport tuner for their car. I was hoping to be able to use this to tune my car. I know that the Cobra and GT use the same tuner in this model year (same part # through Diablosport) but I have heard that you don't want to use a tuner that has been used on another car. Can I use his tuner? Why? Or Why not?

I dont know about that tuner, but the SCT Excal VIN locks the tuner when you put a tune on the car. you cant use it for another car until the first one is returned to the stock tune. This is so you can't go around and tune all your friends cars.

You can NOT use the tuner to tune your car with any hand held tuner. The tuners can only tune one car. If he takes his car back to stock and than you can tune it but it will attach itself to the VIN and computer of one car at a time. You can read and clear codes on any OBDII car though.
